Multi-National Financial Institution (MNFI)

MNFI provides financially related products and services and has ~3000 employees. They are building a complete integrated talent management program. In the first year of their talent management roll-out, MNFI created core competency models for 7 levels within their organization. Then, MNFI contacted CTK to provide a comprehensive technical competency library, competency modeling expertise, and software for competency administration and job profiling. CTK assisted in developing competency models for 5 functions, and then trained internal staff to continue developing job-specific competency models.

Multi-National Chemical Manufacturer (MNCM)

MNCM is a chemical manufacturer with ~2000 employees. They have been creating high-level competency models for several years using a widely used commercial competency library it purchased. MNCM recently purchased a talent management software suite and understands that it needs to populate it with employee and job information in order to gain significant value beyond online performance reviews. MNCM found that the initial competency library they were using would be very costly to license for online use, and additionally it had no technical competencies in the library. MNCM turned to CTK for assistance. CTK found competencies in its own library that closely matched the other library that MNCM had used, so existing competency modeling work would not be lost. CTK guided MNCM through creating core competencies for 5 levels within CM. CTK then designed a job family-based competency modeling approach for MNCM and prepared communication and orientation materials, and competency models for 2 functions. CTK is continuing to assist in facilitating competency modeling meetings for MNCM.

Insurance Company (IC)

IC provides property and casualty insurance and has ~5500 employees. IC wanted to create job-based competency models for about 500 job titles across all job functions. CTK provided a competency library, competency modeling, and software to support that effort. CTK also trained IC staff to create competency models.

Electrical Utility (EU)

EU is a provider of affordable, reliable electricity and has ~500 employees. EU is implementing a succession and workforce planning effort due to a high percentage of its workforce being eligible for retirement in the next five years. EU went through a structured process with one of CTK’s partners, Business Decisions, to design a succession planning program and to pick approximately 25 critical and vulnerable positions for initial succession and workforce planning work. EU then needed to develop competency models, and it turned to CTK to provide a technical competency library and competency management software. Subsequently, based on the success of profiling its most critical and vulnerable positions, EU has decided to profile another 100+ job titles as a basis for a company-wide career development program.

International Hospital System (ILH)

ILH is an international hospital system with ~5000 employees. ILH is seeking to implement a major process and culture change. Extensive goals have been set in an ambitious multi-year plan, beginning with one hospital, then moving to the other hospitals in the system. ILH hired one of CTK’s partners, HRM Advisory, to assist them in the process. Updating human resources processes is one component, and ILH has elected to move to a competency-based integrated talent management approach. ILH has selected CTK to provide a competency library, software, and training in the competency modeling process.
